I love to make things and keep my hands busy. From ceramics to woodworking to floral arrangements. I find beauty and love to express myself through it all. Below are some of my latest projects.
Repurposed Wooden Floor Lamp – June 2024
I found two identical lamps in very bad shape on the sidewalk a few months ago. After some substantial reimagining and many reality checks… I made a new lamp using some of the wood from the old lamps as well as from my scrap pile. Since the wood was visually in poor shape, I sanded down the entire piece and stained it using a Mission Oak stain and poly. I also cut and hemmed new cotton curtain sheets to fit each side of the form. This project was my first attempt at hand sewing which turned out to be pretty fun and I’d like to try again. My final touch was rewiring the light with a push-button cord so it could be turned on on the floor or a short table. This project was very experimental and challenging given the lack of tools I had at my disposal, but I am happy with the result!
Wooden Vinyl Storage/Listening Stand – July 2023
Over the past few years I’ve been slowly starting my own vinyl collection of some of my favorite music. After succumbing to the draw of those terrible portable all-in-one suitcase players, I finally purchased a used Technics record player and needed a permanent home for it. I’ve always loved working with wood for outdoor use such as backyard decks and planters, but this was my first time making furniture for use indoors. Definitely learned a lot from the experience and I’d change so much if I got to do it again. Luckily it won’t be long as my collection is already almost too big for this one!
Some rough specs:
- Douglas fir wood
- Roughly 36in x 18x 14x
- Walnut finish
- Record player: Technics Quartz Direct Drive Automatic Turntable SL-Q300
Hanging Flower Cloud – March 2026
I love working with flowers. Saw a video of someone creating a small chicken wire cube and placing baby breaths in all the gaps, making it look like a floating cloud. I wanted to try the same with mix of flowers I found at the flower market in downtown LA. Very fun to make and makes for a great hanging artpiece / floral chandelier. Make sure to use flowers that can last without watering. Mine will probably stay in decent shape for 3-4 weeks.
